1. Only 20 km separate this calm estate from the noisy Moscow center and 5 km from MKAD. The Arkhangelskoe occupies a unique place in the Russian art culture. Beauty of the parks, buildings, and art, reach museum collections won worldwide recognition. This former estate of Prince Yusupov did not bring profit, but was used only for vacation. And now, there is not only a museum here, but also a state sanatorium.

2. Let us enter the estate through the arch. The arch designed by Russian architect Evgraph Tjurin and built in 1824 is called "Holy Gates".

3. We are at the household part of the estate. It used to be peasant households, kennels, stables here as well as other constructions. This part of the estate was called a "grain yard". Managers occupied the office annex. This building was built in the beginning of XIX century at the place of the former 2-story house.

4. The road leads from the "Holy Gates" to the Church of the Archangel Michael surrounded by the adobe wall with towers and gates.

5. A church behind the wall was build in 1660-th on the place of a wooden one of the XVI century by a long time rulers of this land - Golicyn family. In XVII century the church was an estate center also.

6. The church was restored in 1960-th.

7. As in many buildings of that time, windows also served as gun-ports. And now we can see the fresh whitewashing at the ancient walls.

8. Near the church - the tomb of Princess Yusupov.

9. Tatyana Nikolaevna Yusupova died at the age 22 of typhus.

10. Near the church you can see a small water-tower decorated with a spire. Princes walked along with the technical progress.
